A tech pack is not enough

A tech pack is not enough.
One of the biggest misconceptions in fashion development is that a tech pack and spec sheet are enough to create a well-fitting garment.
They’re not.
A tech pack gives you numbers - measurements like chest width, length, waist circumference. But numbers alone don’t define shape. Two garments can have the exact same specs and still look and fit completely differently.
Why? Because it’s the pattern that controls the silhouette, proportion, balance, and how the garment sits on the body. If you're only providing a factory with a tech pack and spec sheet, you're not giving them enough information to accurately execute your design - especially when it comes to shape and fit.
This often leads to misinterpretation, inconsistent samples, and multiple rounds of revisions - all of which cost time and money.
If you're serious about getting the right fit, you need to pair your tech pack with a well-made pattern. It's the pattern that translates the design into a wearable, 3D product that performs the way it’s meant to.
At Techstyle Studio, we solve this by referencing a range of pre-approved base blocks tailored to the Australian market. By starting with a block that’s already been tested for fit, we help ensure the first sample comes back as close as possible to the intended design - reducing guesswork, improving accuracy, and saving valuable development time.
If you care about fit, don't stop at the tech pack. Build from the pattern.
